Case Study: Hybrid Solar Power Project in Hissar

This week we bring to you a Case Study of our client who has recently installed a Hybrid Rooftop Solar Plant. We thought it best to share his experience with our users and so here is a brief. To give you an overview, this is a Residential Rooftop project with battery back-up. The project was executed at the on-set of Summer 2017.

Overview:

The project capacity is 2.5kWp (Get your estimate here).

Components:

  • Modules: Canadian Solar (315 Wp)
  • Inverter: 3kVA, 48V, Solar Hybrid Inverter, Flinn Energy
  • Batteries: 150 Ah Exide Solar Batteries
  • Structure: Raised (2400 mm)
The project is setup in a rural area where electricity supply is not continuous and power outages can be seen for up to 8 Hours a day. Solar Power for our client was a reliable and clean source of energy for energy security. The system is completely automatic, nothing needs to be done to use this solar power. For maintenance only PV Modules cleaning is required roughly every two weeks depending on the local environmental conditions like dust on panels.

Timeline:

Day 1: Completed the foundations and structure installation.

Day 2: Earthing pits.

Day 3: Batteries, ACDB and Inverter were installed and AC side wiring was completed.

Day 4: Modules, DC distribution box were installed and DC side wiring was done.

The project was commissioned on the fourth day on April 3, 2017.

User Experience:

Was your Solar Power Plant appropriately sized?

From what we have seen in the last two weeks that Solar Energy is sufficient to take care of energy requirements. We haven’t seen the instance where batteries are discharged to a level where power from the grid is required to charge the batteries and meet the load requirements.

What has been your experience so far with solar?

Our experience has been very good. Now we have continuous (24*7) and clean electricity at our home. It’s not only visually appealing but high quality performance system. This has been much better than what I had originally expected.

Would you recommend it to your neighbours?

I would strongly recommend it to my neighbors and friends. We have friends coming to home who enquire about the project and its performance. I hope these kinds of installations will help in educating the people and adoption of Solar Energy will increase in rural areas.

Did Ezysolare make it simple for you by supplying material on time? How long did it take?

  1. I wish to know, have you done net metering also, If not then can u call it a Hybrid system? or it should be called as an Off-Grid system only. plz clarify

      1. 1. Is the Flinn Hybrid Inverter qualified for Grid Connection? In Delhi & Rajasthan the the have not cleared this Inverter.
        2. I’ve not come across the required IEC Certificate for this Inverter.
        Please clarify. We are very keen to use such Inverobters if the qualification can be assured.

  3. Project well executed. This was a good lesson to some of us who want to start solar companies in Africa. Working closely with the client is very important and timely delivery project wins the customer’s royalty. Using quality materials with skilled manpower are also important.

  4. Good article from Ezysolare.

    I wish to know whether plants like this (Hybrid Solar Power Projects) allowed in Tamil Nadu or not. As per Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission. TNERC’s order on LT Connectivity – Ner Metering, Grid Interactive with battery backup won’t be encouraged for Installation. Is it right? Please reply us back with the possible information.
